So amid a forecast of high winds and rain, I rushed outside to harvest the majority of my front yard pumpkin crop and move them to the relative shelter of the back deck. The remaining five, still mostly green, were left to weather the storm on their own.
In the end, there was no storm. Just a little wind. And a lot of rain. And seven harvested pumpkins on the deck, including one that looks a little pale. I didn't plant any white pumpkins and when I noticed this one beginning to grow, I thought it was simply another of those poor unfortunates that would eventually die on the vine. But instead, it just kept growing.
I'm not sure what it is. But I think I'll keep it.
