With warmer than usual temperatures so far this fall, it hasn't always been easy to maintain that Halloween spirit. But then I looked out my living room window. And saw . . . something . . . on the grass. Mushrooms? Garbage? Garden debris?

It was in fact my first official sighting of fallen leaves in my yard.
Nothing else so definitively signals the true beginning of autumn. And the start of the final weeks of the countdown to Halloween.
